Concealed Carry & Defensive Handgun Fundamentals

Take your training to the next level and learn the fundamental skills you need to carry concealed and prepare for defensive scenarios! You'll learn about the legal use of force, what to do in the aftermath of a violent encounter and defensive shooting techniques. You will perform multiple live fire drills such as drawing from a concealed holster, pistol malfunction clearing, shooting using different target alignment methods and more. If you have been hesitant to carry concealed this class is for you!

Policy acknowledgement

Prerequisites & Required Equipment:

  • Massachusetts LTC - Must have a license to attend!
  • Must be able to demonstrate safe firearm handling skills. We reserve the right to prevent a student from participating if they pose a safety hazard to the class.
  • Semi-Auto Pistol (.380ACP, 9mm, .40S&W and .45ACP only. No revolvers.)
  • 2 magazines minimum. Magazine carriers highly recommended.
  • Hip/belt-mounted inside-the-waistband (IWB) or outside-the-waistband (OWB) kydex/hard holster.
  • You should be able to conceal your firearm with a shirt or sweater/light jacket. We recommend wearing pants/jeans with belt loops.
  • 100-150 rounds lead-free frangible ammo (Purchased at the range).
  • NOTE: If you do not currently have the proper gear we may be able to provide a firearm and holster. Gear is highly limited though so please contact us beforehand and we can try to work something out.

Ammo Policy

The Boston Gun & Rifle range is a 100% lead free range. In order to ensure that only lead free ammo is used, students must purchase the ammo directly from the range on the day of the class or bring their own ammo that was previously purchased at BGRA. We reserve the right to check your equipment for compliance.
