Introduction

How to contribute

Learn how to contribute to our Massachusetts gun law documentation.

What we're looking for

The goal of this documentation site is to provide a centralized source for Massachusetts firearms laws and to keep the information accurate, organized, and up to date. Because these laws change and interpretations evolve, we would like for the long-term upkeep of this resource to be handled as a community effort.

We welcome contributions from readers who notice:

  • Errors, typos, or broken links
  • Outdated information or recent legal changes
  • Sections that could use clarification or better organization
  • Suggestions for improving explanations, summaries, or overall structure
  • Missing topics or areas that deserve more detailed coverage

Contributing written content

If you would like to contribute by writing or expanding summaries, please note the following:

  • Submissions should ideally, but optionally, be written in Markdown format
  • Summaries should be clear, neutral, and descriptive
  • When appropriate, include citations to the M.G.L, CMR, or case law

All submissions may be edited for clarity, accuracy, formatting, consistency, and tone. Edits may include reorganization, rewriting for readability, or integration with existing content. Submission does not guarantee publication.

By submitting content, you agree that Urban Firearm Society may use, modify, publish, or decline to publish your submission in whole or in part, in any manner we see fit, without compensation or attribution, and that no confidential or proprietary rights are created by your submission. We do not commit or guarantee to provide a response to any submissions.
